Sorry to hear of your panick attacks, I know from previous experience they are no fun. One of the best ways to conquer your panick attacks believe it or not, is to face it.. face your fear. Go to college tomorrow.. and try not to think about having another one. That is one of the reasons they come on. If you go to your health food store and ask for a powder called inositol, you mix it in your o.j and it can help relax you.. there are other things too, make sure your taking enough B vitamins, taking your omega’s and your magnesium. Ask your Dr. about tryptophan, its available by prescription in higher doses, and you can ask at the health food store about it too, they may have one available there. You need to practice relaxation therapy. Try breathing from your abdomen. Make sure you focus on your breathing. If you feel an attack coming on, go with it.. dont fight it, just let it ride out. Know that they don’t last long, and that it will get better. I have a really good book called “the anxiety and phobia work book” it is very helpful. If you want you can email me, go to my profile and its there. You are not alone.. there are many people who suffer from this. There are many herbal remedies.. but try relaxation therapy as well. Good Luck to you.. ! also, remember that cognitive therapy works! you should seek councelling. It is a great way, they are trained all about panick attacks, and they can help you. Another thing, keep a journal and try to identify your triggers, remember back, what happened? were you nervous about a certain class? test? who were you with? what time of day? don’t dwell on it, but take note, so if it does happen again, you can have an idea of whats triggering them. P.S all of those things I recomended are vitamins, and not chemicals. you need minerals too.
panic attack?
i had a panick attack at college today due to a lot of stress, do you think i should go to college tomorrow?, because i dont want another panic attack tomorrow.
any herbal remedies?
causing yourself pain will only escalate over time.
lets look at and address the causes and conditions of your anxiety… and then learn to manage and lower your stress…
how to do that?
learn to first close your eyes and take 3 deep slow breaths. start emptying your mind.
do this for 5 minutes to start. work up to 2 times a day 20 minutes each time. for more info see below (website)
Panic Attack!!?
I have panic attacks very often. I have found that snapping a rubber band around my wrist helps ease them. I was wondering if anyone else had remedies of how they stop a panic attack from happening.
Panic attack?
So i have suffered from anxiety for about 2 years. Mostly panic attacks every now and then, but mostly anxiety that I am going to have another panic attack. I have been on Celexa for about a year and everything is fine. I am slowly challenging myself to do things I reframed before I begain taking that anti-dep. Now I have gained weight, have no sexually appt., and basically just dont want to have to take these danm pills all my life.
the problem is, whenever I try to go off of the, the anixety comes back. Anyone out these experience this, and if so, how do I over come it. Thank you very much!!
PANIC ATTACK?????????/??
i think i had 1
can u explain to me what happens during a panic attack?
well its happened more than once
my heart WAS racing
i couldnt breathe
i was hot and dizzy
and i threw up
and afterwards i calmed down but i was really paranoid and shakey
was this and anxiety attack or a panic attack?
are they the same thing?
What is it that you’re afraid of? Whatever it is attack it, until you do fear will have control of you. But when you have the courage to face the fear, you’ll find the fear quickly disappears. Courage always wins over fear.
There is no basis for 92% of the things we worry about. That’s from Earl Nigthingale’s Lead the Field. I don’t remember the break-down of the 92% but the biggest one was worrying about things that never happened. As Mark Twain said “I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened.”
As far as getting of the medication, that’s a good idea because you don’t need it. You can beat this on your own. Use the power of your sub-conscious mind…it’s absolutely amazing. I suggest a book I recently read by Dr. Joseph Murhpy titled “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind”
the thing about it though is that you really have to believe that you can overcome your anxiety without medication. Henry Ford said “Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right.” He understood the amazing power of the mind. How else can you explain a man with a 5th grade education building the largest automobile company of all time? He truly believed he could and didn’t listen to all the morons who told him he couldn’t. He thought he could and he did. And so can you.
Good luck. http://www.stoppanicattack.com
Yes you’ve had one 100% and its mega scary!
symptoms.
1.Racing heart
2.Sweaty
3.weak and shaky
4.giddy
5.shortness of breath
6.Feeling scared
So you have had one it seems, but if it happens again try to stay calm and breath slowly! another tip is to hold a paper bag over you nose and mouth, and breath in and out slowly and calmly this will make the heart beat slow down to a normal pace.
does yawning start a panic attack or a panic attack makes me yawn?
I notice i start yawning over and over and then i will start to feel a panic attack happen. Do i panic then yawn or yawn and then have a panic attack? It seems to be an odd symptom of panic attacks, but it never fails. When one happens the other is not far away.
yawning is your body’s way of telling you to get my oxygen in your brain. so either your are 1: already hyperventilating a bit as the panic attack starts and your brain tells you to yawn. then the panic attack goes full blown. or 2: already in a full blown panic attack and rapid breathing. your body is telling you to yawn to help slow down your breathing. the shallow quick breaths increases co2 and decreases o2 causing your blood to be more acidic. so i would say that when you start to feel panicky watch your breathing and take deep long breaths in w/ longer breaths out. good luck!
